LOTM: iPhone luv

August 02, 2012
I've been waiting for my list of the month to share that my parents gave me an iPhone!!!!!! (Yes, this number of exclamation marks is appropriate in a situation like this.) I've been wanting one for ages but I couldn't really afford it myself so I was begging my parents for one for my birthday. Ofcourse, it's not my birthday yet (until the end of September) but my parents gave it already, ain't that amazing? I can't express my gratitude for my parents, who not only provide me the necessities like food but also love me conditionally and try to give me everything I want.

Needless to say, I'm pumped about my new phone. I've already had her about two weeks and can't imagine life without it. So I though I'd make a list of the apps I have already installed. I know this is going to be a boring post for Android users but well, I can't resist! I'm not going to discuss the obvious ones like Facebook, Blogger and Twitter but I'll focus on the others I'm loving so far.

1. Instagram: I know I said I would skip the obvious ones but well, I just have to point out to instagram once. I really like every single one of the effects it has to offer and I love to look at other people's photo's. You can follow me here. + Cinemagram: This little app is a LOT of fun! I can't believe making little cinemagraphs is so easy now, even though I should still practice a bit. You can add some effects as well. You can follow me here.

2. Evernote: You can always use the regular 'Notes' ofcourse, but Evernote has really helped me to make really easy lists and you can even attach a picture/link/video. Another plus: you can see every note you made on your computer as well. But a little disadvantage: you need internet to access your notes. I normally should be able to have internet everywhere but when the connection would fall away, no more notes for me.

3. Shazam: It occurs often that I hear a song somewhere and I love it. I used to listen carefully to the lyrics and save a sentence but more often than not, I wrote down something wrong and I would be unable to find it. With this little app, you just push one button and it recognizes the song for you! This is really helpful and you'll never miss out on good songs.

4. Phonto: I discovered this app only yesterday but I like it too much to not include it. I was searching for an app that allows you to place text on your photos and this one is perfect. It has a lot of different fonts and you can play with how you place your little text or symbol. You can see an example on my screenshot above.

5. Daniel Miller workouts: In the health tab, you can see a little collection of apps. I've been using these for the last couple of weeks to do little workouts. The ones I kept are: ab, butt, arm workout, cardio and simply yoga. The first four are easy to follow videos of different exercises, forming a short workout. (You can choose how long you want it to be) I usually do two a day. The yoga thing looks promising but that's as far as my review goes because I haven't actually done it. By the way, I have the free version and the link goes to a collection of all those workouts together.

6. Londen 2012: This one is temporary ofcourse but well, it's useful as long as the Olympics last. It shows you how many medals each country has and it which sports, the schedule for the day and even little passports of all of the athletes. Too bad there aren't any videos included ;)

I have a bunch more of silly little apps like Oldify (it used to be free) or (dumb) games like YummyBurger but they're not really worth mentioning, they're just for fun or when I'm bored. I hope you liked this and maybe you will like one of these as well :) By the way, if anyone knows of an app that lets you draw on your photos; don't hesitate to tell me.

What are your favourite apps?
xoxo

  1. When I had an iPhone (RIP :C) I had Installous on it and collected a bunch of camera/photo effect/collage/font apps!

I wish I got Evernote when I had that. The normal notes app was pretty basic!

  6. That's awesome!! Congrats on the new phone! My parents got me my first iPhone for my birthday too - and then my boyfriend got me one when my phone was dying and the new iPhone4 was out. It's sooo nice to have, but I don't know if I ever would have paid for it since it's so pricey, you know? Glad you're having fun with the apps! I'm personally addicted to a free game called Dragonvale... =)

    1. Exactly, I don't know if I could've given so much money for a phone. But that doesn't mean I'm not delighted :) And I've downloaded that game and it seems pretty great so far :p Thanks for the tip!
