What to wear for Halloween

November 01, 2012

Cavemen! The original plan was to dress up as the Flintstones but we kind of searched for costumes last minute and it didn't work out. But I liked this so much! I have to be honest though, I didn't dress up for halloween, these were pictures from our most recent carnival. Maybe I can tell about that later because I don't really think a lot of people are familiar with it?

I'm actually sad that we don't really have a real halloween here. Sure, there are some people who dress up and there are some parties but it's not the real thing. We had only one pair of trick or treaters, that's awful. I would love to be able to celebrate like it should be, with costumes and friends and lots of candy. Speaking of candy, we don't even have candy corn. I've never seen it in real life and obviously I have never tasted it.

If we had a decent halloween though, I would definitely dress up like this. I especially like the bones in our hair. My boyfriend will probably kill me for posting this picture though! And I'm wearing contacts here, so I could go overboard with fake lashes. I hope you all had an awesome halloween! And don't forget to check out these other awesome ladies.

  3. Oh this is awesome! You guys look super cool, and the bones are my favorite touch. That's a bummer your area isn't big on the Halloween. I feel like even places that used to be are declining in their festive spirit. It's sad. But definitely still possible to have fun! And in costumes that awesome, it'd be hard to see how you couldn't have a ton of fun.

  5. oh my...all the memories of "de Marie-Louise" and "de kippendans" just came rushing back to me!!! yikes!
Don't worry, you're not missing out on the candy corn, it's absolutely disgusting (although my husband can eat a whole bag in one sitting!), I'm jealous that you get to have speculaas and pepernoten koeken! You look adorable as always! It might be fun to put flyers in the neighborhoods mailboxes next year to encourage them to participate!

  8. You guys look cute. I guess as an American, I take Halloween for granted. Kitty (Kitty & Buck) posted how you can hardly get pumpkins in Australia. It makes me appreciate the simple things. :) I didn't dress up this year or do anything. In the past though I always have. You can go HERE and see me as Minnie Mouse a few years ago. :)

  9. Ahaha! This is so cute (I like it way better than a store-bought Flinestone actually).

Too bad your halloween wasn't all you could wish it was, but glad it was "decent."

  10. Hi Dorien!

Where are you located that you don't do halloween? How odd! It's such a big deal where I am. People go nuts, haha! It's fun. Although, I didn't dress up this year. I do love your idea for costumes. Flinstones would have been really cool, but it's hard to find specific things so last minute. In any case, you guys look great! Hope you had fun :)

  12. You guys look awesome! Sometimes the best costumes are the ones you have to throw together at the last minute.

    Do tell about the carnival!
