Nail mail: red polish or bad polish

I have to admit, I've become slightly addicted to collecting nail polishes over the last couple of months. Thankfully, I usually go for budgetproof polishes (not more than $5) but still, you can't always buy every colour you like. Also, I've started following a lot of blogs that only tackle the subject of nail polish with swatches and everything alike. And when those blogs have giveaways, I enter. So here it comes: I won a nail polish giveaway! You can't believe how excited I was. Partly because duh, I won something. And because that meant I was going to get something in the mail. And because it was nail polish which ment new colours. And two new brands to discover! So I decided it was time I finally let that little hobby of mine appear here too.

I know that my nails aren't the prettiest and well, I'm still really clumsy at actually applying nail polish but it's about the colours, right? And about telling that I've won something because that's awesome. So a few weeks ago I got the delightful package in the mail from Maria over at Red polish or bad polish? Thank you, Maria! Take a look.

Catherine Arley Nr. 676
I applied two coats and obviously it's not very opaque but I think it would look really pretty over another colour for that extra shine.

Catherine Arley Nr. 667
Two coats - I didn't really like this, either with one, two or three coats,  it didn't really look like a grey polish but really like a weird filter over your nails.

Catherine Arley Nr. 673
With two coats (as shown here), you can still see the white of my nails so three coats would probably be better but I like this already! It's a really pretty shade.

Golden Rose - Jolly Jewels Nr. 110
I was so excited about this one! This was a surprise so I didn't know I was getting it and I had never heard of the brand. My nails have one coat here. It's not really a topcoat but I don't really like applying multiple coats neither. I did try it over a grey/blue and it was really pretty! It has tiny blue dots and bigger pink glitters.

Essence Circus Confetti
I actually already owned this nail polish, I applied one coat over two coats of black. This is my favorite top coat ever. I love all of the different glitters!  (I'm sorry for the messy picture.)

What is your favorite nail polish?

  2. I really like the Essence brand, I've got a few of their other make up products from when I went to Switzerland. The circus confetti actually looks like it comes out with a decent amount of glitter compared to some glitter ones too.
I'm a sucker for Barry M products, I used to get them when they were nearly the only ones that had really colourful make up but now everyone does so I might start trying more brands now.

I don't own a lot of different brands, but I'm liking Essie.
