Lover of the light

March 08, 2013

Has anyone ever noticed I always talk about the freaking weather in what I wore posts? It's not going to change today though. Can I just tell for a minute how dissapointing I am in the Belgian weather? It has been freezing up untill two days ago. Then yesterday and the day before, we had the most gorgeous spring weather with enough vitamin D. And now it's just right back to gloomy, rainy weather. And they're even predicting snow again for next week! Ahh hate it.

Besides the weather, this is a happy week though. I am now one hundred percent sure about my travel plans so I will definitely share those tomorrow. I know I said this last week but then it wasn't booked yet and I didn't want to post about it untill I was completely sure it was settled. And besides that, I'm going to be a model for a day on Sunday! A couple of weeks ago I joined a 'contest' where about eight winners would be picked to walk the catwalk in a local store for a day. Last week, a professional picked out three outfits for me and sunday 's the day! I'll get my hair done and a visagist will do my make-up. And then I have to show three outfits! My boyfriend and my family is coming to watch ofcourse. I've asked my boyfriend to take lots of pictures. Also, I'm getting a gift card from that shop which is pretty freaking amazing because all of my money will be going to my trip ofcourse.

Now about these pictures again. I was shooting this outfit (in this stupid weather), finished and went back inside. And then I thought: "WHUT, I haven't even posted pictures of my amazing coat yet" so I went back outside and took some more pictures. Really, I had been looking for a leathersleeved coat for so long and then I just found one at H&M, duh. They always have what I want.

Well, now I've come to a point where I'm satisfied with how long it takes me to shoot some decent pictures but I'm still not very happy with the pictures themselves. I know location is important but I don't have the guts yet to take pictures in public places without my boyfriend. And well, I just can't figure out how to make my background blur! I hope I'll figure it out soon because I love pictures like that. Anyway, have a good day everyone!

(By the way, I forgot to take pictures of the back of my sweater so I quickly took one with my phone. See it here.)

  1. I might be able to give ya some tips on achieving bokeh (blur). Do you have a DSLR camera? If so, first thing - change the focus to manual instead of auto focus. I find that just by having it on manual, the blur is better. On my camera (Nikon), there is a little switch on the lens to turn it to MF (manual focus). Secondly, make sure you are at an aperture of f/8 or lower for portraits (the lower the f/stop number, the better blur and the more natural light is being let in). For up close pictures of things like flowers, products, ect, f/1.8 to f/3.5 is good. And finally, make sure you are standing a few feet from your backdrop. So, if you wanted the hedge behind you in the first photo to be blurry and your body to be in focus, you'd have to get closer to the actual camera and put some space in between you and the hedge. Hope that all makes sense!
